Letters To You
Since I was little, I’ve always loved sending letters.
Letters are one of the most beautiful ways to put feelings into words. I love both sending and receiving them. Through letters, I find space to reflect and let my emotions flow. Letters to You is a collection of reflections about life, written as letters. I hope these words can bring you comfort, inspiration, or simply a moment to pause and breathe.

About Me
Hi, my name is Barbara, born in 1997 in Brazil.
Since I was a child, I have always loved writing, first in my diary and then in letters. Letters are one of the most beautiful ways to turn feelings into words. I love writing poetry and capturing moments that will never happen again through photography. Both writing and photography help me grow and let my emotions and soul flow freely.
The Meaning Behind “Winds of Barbaros”
The name Barbara comes from the Greek word “barbaros” (βάρβαρος), which means foreigner or outsider. In Ancient Greece, this word described those who did not speak Greek. Their language sounded like “bar-bar,” something unintelligible. Over time, it came to represent someone different, mysterious, and from elsewhere. (Definition from Behind the Name)
My name was given to me because of Saint Barbara, a young woman from Christian legend who was killed by her father, Dioscorus, who was then struck by lightning. My grandmother, a devout Catholic, wanted all her grandchildren to be named after saints.
Maybe that is why I have always loved my name, because I have always felt like it, a bit of an outsider. I have also always been drawn to storms and thunder. It is beautiful how a name can mirror the soul of the person who carries it.
Writing as Reflection
Writing has always been my escape, my way to understand who I am, what I want, and how I grow. And sometimes my way to breathe. I started young, stopped for a while after my sister read my diary, and came back to it at 17. Since then, I have been writing for eleven years.
People often ask why I started a blog. Maybe it is a bit old-fashioned, but I have always loved reading blogs.
Why I Write
I do not have big expectations for this blog. I just want to write and reflect. If someone out there is reading, that already makes me happy.
Blogs have always helped me disconnect, and that is what I hope you feel here, a moment of quiet.
On social media, there is so much noise that we rarely remember what we just scrolled past. Here, I want you to slow down, read, breathe, and maybe, through my words, reconnect with yourself.
Thank you for being here.
Every text you find on Winds of Barbaros reflects my perspective and the way I see the world, subjective, imperfect, and human.
